Bistecca in Piazza
On evry Thuesday from about 19:30 (mid June – mid Sep) it’s a street grill fest in the central piazza of Tavarnelle.
It’s a cooperation between the local buthcher and the grocerystore and the restaurant of the piazza. You go to the butcher and choose the meat, then you bring the meat to the restaurant grill chef standing with the grill in the middle of the street. The waiter takes the sideorders to the grocery and serves you through the meal at tables set out in the street.
Its very popular so you must order a week upfront. They put up a phone # for an English speaking bookingservice.

Osteria di Casa Chianti you can see from La Citerna, looking south by the road down to Certaldo A highly recommended Osteria in walking distance 20 min. through the vineyards separating La Citerna from the restaurant. Bring a torch (in the hallway drawer) as it might be dark on you way home. |

Great Pizza !! Very simple furnishing but order a table outside if the weather allows for it. Otherwise excuse the style, the pizza makes up for it. It’s down in Fiano and you have to follow the road (can’t reach it across the fields) so walking would take near 30 min.(6 min. by car) |

This is in Romita. You drive through Tavarnelle and go towards the raccordo in the Firenze (not Siena) direction. One the crest of the hill, just before you get to the raccordo, you will see a sign saying la Fattoria on the right. You eat outside in the courtyard in summer and inside in the winter, late autumn. Quite fun, lots of color. |

A nice Pizza restaurant accross the road of the Coop in Tavarnelle. Go out of the coop parking, down the mainroad (50m) towards the roundabout, take the left exit 3/4 of the roundabout, and you get the parking for the Pizza directly on the left side of the street you enter. (Its a laundry there sharing the parkinglot.) Very good pizza and nice service. |

A great lunch place at the buthcher in Sambuca, on the other side of the raccordo(as if you went to Firenze) but turn right along the raccordo in direction. A few km on the small road you get to the Samuca center at there you find the butchershop/lunch place. If you want to get space outside you must book afew day upfront. |

Drive to Barberino and through the village towards Siena/Poggibonsi. A couple of hundred metres outside Barberino there is a turning to the right towards Petrognano! Take this road and after about four kms you will come to the restaurant, which is off a turning on the right hand side. |

This is an excellent slightly upmarket restaurant in a tiny village, which houses an abbey and a lot of Antinori vineyards, the other side of the raccordo. You basically need to drive to Tavarnelle, cross the raccordo, and take a right turn. There are two roads on the right make sure it is the correct one which is signposted. Further along this road you will come to a left turning, again signposted to Badia a Passignano. |

They claim to be the first Pizza resturant in Florenze est. 1960. Nevertheless they serve excellent pizza and other nice meals 300 m from Ponte Veccio. Good beer and wines too. Reasonably priced. |
